16th SoToDo Congress of Performance Art

West Sacramento  

Gallery SoToDo together with California Stage in Sacramento and the John Natsoulis Gallery in Davis are planning a three day international congress for Performance Art in West Sacramento between Thursday the 28th and Saturday the 30th of May 2009.

Dates
Start: Wednesday, 27. May 2009
departure; Sunday, 31. May 2009
Five days starting on Wednesday 27. May with the arrival of the artists in the afternoon.
Congress dates are between Thursday 28. and Saturday 30. May 2009. Departure of the artists is on the 31. Sunday 2009.

Times of Congress (Public Welcome)
10.00: Breakfast with the artists
12:00: Preparation for the evening Performance Art
16:30: Salon Café and Discussion.
19:00: Exhibition of Performance Art

Participants
This invitation has gone out to the artists who have participated in a Gallery SoToDo event over the past twenty years. A new participant to the congress is possible only through a recommendation from an artists who has already participated.

What we offer
We would like to emphasis that the congress is a meeting place and a forum for exchange in the true sense of the word. Our main goal is to create this space where artists and public can come together and exchange ideas, communicate and network.

Within the framework of the Congress, there will be

- Discussions;
The afternoon is set aside for informal discussions moderated by the participating artists about performance art. It is a time for the public to learn more about the artists and to eventually participate in their evenings performance art events.

- an Art Shop;
We have included an Art shop within the congress to give participating artists the opportunity to sell multiples, their catalogs, CD or DVD, works on paper or other artifacts for under 100 dollars. 

- a Docu-Kino 
You will be able to show documentation of your work or of others at a small cinema at the congress. Please bring your videos in DVD or VHS format. A space will be set aside to present your work.

- an Info Desk
An Info-Desk is where you can display documentation in the form of catalogs, text or photos about yourself to the public.
